SPARROWHAWK
Sparrowhawks
seem often to be their own worst enemies. Their hunting style,
consisting of high-speed chases – often through woodland,
leads them to collide with obstacles as their concentration is
firmly locked on their prey.
Unfortunately,
sparrowhawks are lightly built with long, thin bones which are
very difficult for vets to treat successfully. They are also very
highly strung and suffer badly from stress when kept and handled
in captivity.
Nevertheless,
the Trust’s success rate is reasonable with 18 of the 42
latest patients being released.
